Marie Laura Holt

STOW - Marie Laura Holt, educator, was born on February 25, 1936, in Newark, New Jersey, and passed away on November 29, 2022.

Marie was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and E. Dorothy Uveges, and her husband of thirty-four years, Bob.

Surviving are children, Carrie (Jon) Overfield and David (Michelle) Holt, and grandchildren, Kyle, Danielle, Kellie, Ashley, Josh, Courtney, Nicole, and Ryan. She is also survived by loving brother, Joseph (Martha) Uveges and sister, Arlene White. She appreciated the love and company of dear friends, Jo Lofland, Renata Long, Margaret Bolls, and many of the widows from her support group.

Marie attended and graduated from Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio. She was a teacher for thirty-one years in the Cuyahoga Falls City School District, retiring in 1996.

Over Marie’s years of living in Stow, she had been a past president of the Stow Jaycee Wives, belonged to Stow Woman’s Club, Friends of the Stow Munroe Falls Public Library, SCRTA, ORTA, and was a member of XI Conclave of Kappa Iota sorority. Also, she volunteered at The GriefCare Place.

Marie’s interests included reading, trivia, puzzles, playing cards - especially bridge, taking short bus trips, collecting miniature pitchers, Goebel figurines, ABC books, and talking on the computer.  She enjoyed writing Christmas poems and paying tribute to friends and colleagues for their birthdays and retirements in poetic rhymes.

Pastor Jim Case will conduct service Sunday 3:30 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, where friends may call from 1 PM until service time.  Burial Stow Cemetery.
