Marilyn June Davis

January 13, 1939 — July 10, 2022

Marilyn J. Davis, 83, of Stow, passed away on Sunday, July 10th, 2022, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Akron on January 13, 1939 to Delmar and Rissa Shrock. After graduating as the valedictorian of the class of 1957 at Kenmore High School, she attended Kent State for a short time and then worked as an executive secretary at Roadway, Goodrich, and St. Thomas Hospital. She eventually followed her dreams of becoming a florist and opening her own shop.

Marilyn had the sweetest personality, the most tender heart and was kind towards everyone. Her hobbies included watching Cleveland Guardians games on TV, spending time with her cherished family, and doting on her constant companion, her cat Meemee. She was known amongst her family and friends as loving to bake homemade cookies and then sharing them with everyone. It brought her great joy. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for many decades.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Joni Gander, her former husband turned friend, Larry Carlson, her parents and her sister, Donna Thompson.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurel (Jim) Laber, Andraea (Jonathon) Vinocur, son in law Brett (Kathy) Gander, grandchildren Abbey (Kaleb) Austin, Allison Laber, Grace Laber, Jonah Vinocur, Jude Vinocur, Zac (Jenn) Mullenix, Madison Gander, and Mikayla Gander. Also survived by great grandchildren Tucker and Trevor Austin, Cameron, Tristen, Adilyn and Rowan Mullenix.

The family would like to thank Angie, RN and Jennifer, HHA from Summa Hospice, as well as her friends Pat Schneider and Kris Underwood for their love and friendship to Marilyn and for their help and support during these last six weeks.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services and private burial was held at the convenience of the family.
