Jean Kroeger (Colopy)

August 6, 1933 — June 28, 2024

STOW - Jean Kroeger (Colopy) 90, was called to her heavenly rest on June 28, 2024, after years of declining health.

Though she struggled with dementia and loss of vision during the past several years, Jean was still positive and willing to start each day fresh as long as she had her four children as her caregivers. She was happiest when one of her children was with her, which was pretty much all the time over the last few years, especially her son, Tom, who moved home to take care of her.

Born and raised in Akron, Jean graduated from Akron Garfield and The University of Akron. She met and married our dad, Fred, in 1955.

Jean’s life was centered around her love for her family and her friends. A sweet tooth, a love for reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and shopping at the mall, are all things that come to mind in thinking about mom. She was often referred to as “Sweet Jean” with her quiet demeanor.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Kroeger; her parents, James Colopy and Mary Colopy Jacobs, and her siblings, James Colopy and Eileen Merrill.

She is survived by her children, Dianne (Dennis) Grutzmacher, Lori Styles, Tom Kroeger, and Kathy (Von) Alleshouse; grandchildren, Michelle Styles, Emily (Andrew) Martinez, and Morgan Alleshouse; great- grandchildren, Elizabeth May, Abigail May, and Scarlett Data, as well as step-grandchildren, Tom Alleshouse, Rick Alleshouse, and their families.

There will be no services or calling hours. Cremation has taken place.

The family requests any memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor #17, Chicago, IL 60601.
