HUDSON - Marilyn Virginia Martin, born April 14, 1931, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, at the age of 92.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph L. Martin, and her brother, Robert Yaro. She is survived by her children, Sue (Paul) Samide, Mike (Carol) Martin, and Chuck (Rachel) Martin; her grandchildren, Father Rich Samide, Father Dan Samide, Jenn Martin, Kaitlin (Michael Hoarty) Martin, Mike (Jessie) Samide, Anna Martin, and Joe Martin, and her great-granddaughter, Katie Samide.
Marilyn was born and raised in Cleveland, and met her husband, Joe, as part of a Catholic young adult group. After spending the first 13 years of their marriage on the move, living in Dallas, Seattle, and Oakland, they finally made their home in Hudson where they spent more than 50 happy years.
Her greatest love in life was her faith and family. Marilyn attended daily Mass at St. Mary Parish in Hudson and was involved in the LAM ministry, when her health still permitted, and had a deep devotion to Mary and the rosary. She was always interested in what her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter were up to, and always wanted to know what was going on in their lives.
Though dementia robbed her of many things, it could not destroy her spirit. Her funny light-hearted personality would still shine through, though often camouflaged by illness. Praise God, now she can rest. The family wishes to thank the kind and loving caregivers at Maplewood in Cuyahoga Falls and Serenity Hospice for making her last months on earth the best they could be.
