CUYAHOGA FALLS - Marion Edgar Rossman, P.E. He was 97 years old and was born on April 5, 1925, in Ferguson Twp., Centre County, Pennsylvania. The son of Edgar James and Thelma Rossman. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Gertrude; sisters, Bernadine Soyster and Helen Dempsey; brother, Kenneth, and daughter-in-law, Jan L. Rossman. Surviving him are his sister, Evelyn Page; daughters, Elaine (Albert) Pappano, Carolyn (Charles) Yost, and son, Richard; stepdaughters, Kathleen Wagner, Susan Brysacz, and Sandra (James) Costello, five grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Marion was a member of the VFW of Stow, Ohio, having served three years in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at both Duke University and Purdue University, where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in 17 states and worked in Engineering Design and Construction for 36 years before retiring in 1985. His first job was as a Structural Detailer for the roof beams of the General Assembly Area of the United Nations building in New York City. A few other notable projects were the Savannah River Nuclear Plant, the Goodyear Synthetic Rubber Chemical Plant in Houston, Texas, the High Energy Boron Rocket Fuel plant in Niagara Falls, New York, and the Automotive Proving Grounds Test Facility at Pecos, Texas. After retiring, he wrote and compiled a genealogical book entitled, “Rossmans in America.” This involved much research in court houses and churches long before Al Gore invented the Internet. Marion’s research took him from Salt Lake City, Utah, all the way to Germany. Marion and his wife, Gertrude, sailed 254 days on the Holland America Cruise Line visiting many ports of call. Golf and downhill snow skiing were beloved sports into his nineties. Pastor Jim Case will conduct services Friday, January 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Entombment will be with Gertrude at the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, North Canton, Ohio.
