Mark Robert Anderson
Stow, OH - Mark Robert Anderson, 70, husband of Lesley Jean Anderson, of Stow, Ohio, passed away March 27, 2024 at Heritage of Hudson after a long battle with Lewy body dementia.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph H. Anderson, a WWII Veteran, and Fay Anderson, a teacher, of South Bend, Indiana. While a Hoosier at heart, he’s been a Cleveland Guardians (Indians) fan for over 30 years, and loved baseball his entire life…preferably with a Dortmunder or Yuengling in hand.
Mark graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Purdue University. He later moved to Michigan to work at Sybron / Kerr in Romulus, where he co-invented a computerized dental mixing device (patent #5,184,893). He then moved to physical therapy product management at Hygenic Corporation in Akron, Ohio, where he introduced new Thera-Band product categories and directed trade events and educational programs. He showed a natural aptitude for storytelling beyond his job, and was known for giving great pep talks to his kids, his proudest achievements, whenever they were going through tough times.
Mark’s career enabled him to visit countries throughout Europe, including Austria, Czechia, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey; but he loved family vacations in Florida just as much. He’d often tell some goofy “dad jokes” and won quite a few games of Scrabble. Mark’s deep singing voice was rarely heard, but others remarked how gifted he was. Mark also enjoyed visiting flea markets with Lesley, looking for the stories behind vintage radios and paintings they collected together, as well as spending time with their two cocker spaniels, Minnie and Darla, whom he loved cuddling with in the evenings.
In addition to his wife Lesley, he is survived by his son Matthew Anderson (Thaddeus Delonis) of Los Gatos, California and daughter Emily Anderson (Michael Durst) of Lancaster, Ohio. He is also survived by his sisters Sue Straw of Oak Hill, Virginia and Amy Ward of Chicago, and his aunt, Dr. Frances Horvath of St. Louis.
