Marlaena "Mar" Nicole Koren (Nee Michl)

STOW - Marlaena "Mar" Nicole Koren (nee Michl), 27, died January 17, 2022, at Akron General Hospital.

Born in Ravenna, she attended Ravenna High School graduating in 2012 and pursued and completed a Fine Arts Degree in painting and printmaking from Kent State University Class of 2017. She was a resident of Stow since 2015 with her husband, Ricky, and two cats, Char and Tenzin.

Marlaena had been employed with TCP as a graphic designer as well as handling freelance clients and running her own online store named FOXXMOSS via Etsy. She enjoyed numerous hobbies and had multiple talents such as many forms of art, painting, drawing, printmaking, digital, 3D rendering, videogaming, gardening, aqua scaping, weight training, vocal arts, crafting, woodworking, home dcor, cooking, as well as having an extremely creative fashion sense. Marlaena was a no-nonsense focused woman with a heart as big as her presence. Her laugh and smile where contagious and she was loved by so many. She considered everyone her friend and treated them all with love and respect wanting to help everyone become the best version of themselves. She and her husband worked extremely hard and had achieved their dream of owning a home together and wanted to start a family. She was a young wife that was taken far too soon, recently marrying the love of her life of eight years, Ricky, on December 9, 2021, and had planned to have a wedding ceremony this coming fall.

She is survived by her husband, Richard "Ricky" Koren, Jr.; father, Mark (Wendy) Michl; mother, Denise McGee; brother, Justin (fianc Paige) Michl; niece, Kelsey Michl; father-in-law, Richard "Rick" Koren, Sr.; mother-in-Law, Victoria (Ross) Talerico; paternal uncle, Todd (Wendy) Michl; maternal uncle, Bryon McGee; cousin, Stephanie (Danny and son, Jace) Brautigam; maternal great-aunt, Sandra (Pat) McHenry; paternal great-uncle, Wendell Sittser; paternal great-aunt, Judy Pedulla; paternal grandmother, Carole Michl.

Memorial service will be held 7 PM Wednesday, January 26 at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road Stow, Ohio 44224. Visitation 4 PM to 7 PM, Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
