STOW - Martha S. Rea, 87, passed into the Lord’s hands with her children by her side on Monday, February 20, 2023.
Born in Steubenville, Ohio, she put down roots in Boardman, Ohio, when she married the love of her life, Gilbert Rea.
She worked as the Coordinator of Volunteers for the Youngstown Hospital Association (now WRCS/ForumHealth). She moved to Stow, Ohio, after retiring to be near her children and grandchildren. Above all, she loved her family and the time she spent with them.
She was known to family and friends as the card lady. She never missed a birthday or anniversary. She kept in touch with friends and family through traditional snail mail. It brought her great joy to write out all the cards each month as she thought about each person and prayed for their well-being.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Rea; parents, Albert and Margaret Stewart; brothers, Al Stewart and Dick Stewart; sister, Hazel Riedel; step-daughter, Dottie Coffin, and step-sons-in-law, Dig Coffin and Don Williams.
She is survived by her son, Stewart (Shelly) Rea; her daughter, Heather (Ed) Schloss; grandchildren, Kari (Ash) Rea, Kelly (Harrison) Rea, Kirstin (Ben) Murray, Colleen Schloss, and Ian (Mackenzie) Schloss; great-granddaughter, Grace Murray, as well as stepdaughters, Bonnie (Paul) Casey, Kathy (Don) Weaver, and Virginia (Don) Williams. She had many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly.
A devoted Christian, she was a member of the Hudson United Methodist Church and will be missed by her church family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Hudson United Methodist Church, 2670 Hudson Aurora Road, Hudson 44236.
