Marvin (Marv) J. Mills

TALLMADGE - Marvin J. Mills, 88, formerly of Munroe Falls, Ohio, was surrounded by family when he passed away at home on September 4, 2023. He joins in heaven his loving wife, Janice, after 68 years of marriage, and his oldest son, Randy.

Marv was born in 1934, in Oakland, Maryland, to the late Dwight and Carolyn Mills, where in 1952, he graduated valedictorian of his high school class. In 1954, he married Janice and started their journey to Ohio where they began raising their five children. Marv worked hard at several jobs before starting a career at a paint store in Stow, Ohio. He and Janice eventually became the owners of that store known as Mills Decorating Center.

Marv loved his community and his church, and he gave back in many ways. He served on Munroe Falls Council, Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education, the Stow Library Foundation, Stow Schools Foundation, Seven Springs Mt. Villas Homeowners’ Association, and was a past president of the Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce and multiple committees at First Christian Church of Stow. He was also a founding member of the Stow Rotary Club and a member of the Munroe Falls Lions Club. Marv’s lifelong love of golf led him to become a shareholder of Fox Den Golf Course where he famously made a hole-in-one ~ one of three in his life.

Marv was preceded in death by his brother, Robert, and sister-in-law, Henrietta Mills, and is survived by his brother, John (Michelle). He will be deeply missed by his surviving children, Douglas (Lyn), Michael (Stacey), Stephen, and Julie (Don), and his grandchildren, Randy, Sydney, Chris (Maggie), Brian, Madison, Jared, Johnny, Lilly, Rose, and daughter-in-law, Ramona Ayers (Don), and her children, Miranda (Tyler) and Tristan, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday, September 11, 2023, at First Christian Church of Stow, 3493 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio 44224. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 4 - 7 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio 44224.
