Maureen Gray Craddock

STOW - Maureen Gray Craddock completed her journey on this earth and returned home on October 1, 2023. She was just 30 days shy of her 102nd birthday! She was born on October 31, 1921, in Arcola, WV.

She was a longtime Stow resident having relocated with her parents. She married Rexford Craddock and resided next to her parents. She worked for Wolfe Building Products and as an office manager at Fulton-Reid Brokerage. After her working career, she and Rexford moved to Port Richey, FL, and she returned to Stow in 1984, upon his death.

She became a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ. She and her friend, Addie, shared their love of sewing and crafts that brought many new friendships. She took pride in her love of gardening, where she spent her days with her hands in the good earth weeding, planting, and watering many colorful flowers every year. A pair of hummingbirds returned each year to her garden bringing much delight. She lived independently, looking forward to her birthday on Halloween, until one week before her death. Her secret for longevity was her strong will and her love of sweets, candies, and cookies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John D. Gray and Loretta Armentrout Gray, and her husband, Rexford, in 1984. She is survived by several cousins and great friends. She was an independent and strong lady to the end. The lives she touched are better for knowing her.

Rev. Kim Mislin Cran will conduct service on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 12 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Stow Cemetery.
