Nancy DeWitt, age 90, Hudson Ohio

STOW - On Friday February 28, 2025, a beautiful sunny afternoon, Nancy DeWitt, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully with family by her side.

Nancy was born November 12, 1934, in Westerville, Ohio, and it was there that she met and grew up with John DeWitt, the love of her life, and the man she would marry the day after she turned 18. They were married for 72 years.

The couple moved to Kent, Ohio in 1961, and it was there that they raised their four children. Nancy was an optimist, always looking for “the bright side” and having a kind word for everyone. She was an enthusiastic gardener, belonging for many years to the Elms Garden Club, a prolific crafter, with an extensive craft room where she would create everything from floral arrangements to elaborate “Father Christmas” figures for the grandchildren, and if she felt like it, would join the ladies for a quick nine holes of golf.

She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Jack (Jill), of Bath Twp., Dan, of Ft. Myers, FL, Jim, of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Amy McCarthy (Rob), of Stow; grandchildren, John (Tricia), of Westerville, Daniel (Joe Hilty), of Westerville, Chloe Bruin (Dan), of New Albany, Sarah Dillon (Billy), of Durham NC, Ellyn Nunn (Tyler), of Cincinnati, Mollie McCarthy, of Richmond VA, and Brett DeWitt, as well as great-grandchildren, Lilly, Annie, Emmie, and Jack DeWitt, Maggie Hilty-DeWitt, Charlie Bruin, and Shea and Will Dillon.

Nancy was a gentle and loving soul, filled with kindness. We are grateful her journey has ended, and she is reunited with her loved ones that have gone before.

A private interment will be held on a date to be determined by the family.
