Obituary of Nicholas T. Cistone

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Nick Cistone went home to be with the Lord May 8, 2021.

Born January 2, 1933 in Akron, Ohio, he spent most of his life in the Akron and Cuyahoga Falls area. He proudly worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for almost 40 years. He loved his job traveling to many countries where he would help Goodyear Plants with Quality Control and Tire Curing. He was not only helpful, but his fun-loving personality of making people laugh and smile had them asking for him to stay longer and return for future visits, which he always did!

Everywhere he went, he made friends, and no one was a stranger to him for long. He left Goodyear for several years to serve our country in the U.S. Army, 2nd Armored Tank Division, "Hell on Wheels" stationed in Germany. He returned to continue working for Goodyear until his retirement.

Nick loved his family; we believe even more than his many dachshunds! He would do anything for both! Every summer, new and lasting wonderful memories were made at his cottage with the most amazing view of Otter Lake in Parry Sound Ontario, Canada. He loved fishing, boating, swimming and taking hikes there with the family. Many good memories were made around the table eating the best spaghetti and meatballs ever, prepared by his mom, Rose.

Back in Ohio, his love of socializing and a bit of exercise took place at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. He made many good and lasting friendships there. Walking was his passion for many years, including the Waterworks area. He loved walking many miles a day. He said this way he could eat whatever he wanted, including his love for Italian foods his mom made, and everything at Devitis Italian Market in Akron! He was proud of his Italian Heritage and proud to be an American. Nick also loved to watch his Westerns and listening to Susan Boyle, along with members of her fan club.

We will miss his huge heart, love for others, and his many jokes that made us smile.

Preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Tony, sister, Connie, and sister-in-law, Jeannette. He is survived by brother, Joe, nephews and niece, Tim (Rosey), Kathy (Carl), Tom (Diane), many great-nephews and nieces, special friends, Robert Boyd, Mike Firtha, and many other cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday 5-8 at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road in Stow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
