Norman (Ernie) Ernest Mullinix

June 28, 1925 — December 9, 2023

HUDSON - Norman Ernest Mullinix, 98, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 9, 2023, at Danbury Assisted Living in Hudson, Ohio.

Ernie was born June 28, 1925, in Daisy, MD, to the late Norman and Pauline (Hartsock) Mullinix. He was the fourth of five children and the last to enter his eternal home. After serving in the Army in WWII, he majored in electrical engineering at the University of Maryland. He also holds a degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University. He spent the majority of his career at Westinghouse Electric Company until he retired in 1992.

He married Jeri Martin (Ankeney) in 1958, on his 33rd birthday. They recently celebrated 65 years of being each other’s “sweetheart".  Ernie was a man of quiet faith and an active member of Catonsville United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees and service projects throughout the years.

After raising their three children in the home they built in Catonsville, MD, they moved down the road to Charlestown Retirement Community where they met many friends and enjoyed 24 years of independent senior living. As it became apparent that assisted living would better meet the needs of their declining health, the decision was made to move to Danbury Assisted Living in Northeast Ohio in order to be close to their daughter, Pam.

Ernie loved his Baltimore Orioles, his Terrapin football and basketball teams, and missed his Baltimore Colts. He was a man of few words but was a kind, loving, and gentle husband, father, and “grandpap.” He cherished the time spent with family and loved to interject his dry, quick wit into unsuspecting conversations.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeri; son, Glenn (Sherri); daughters, Joyce Mullinix and Pam Fair (Wes); grandchildren, Gabrielle, Chase, Parker, and Madison Mullinix; and David, Christopher, and Lauren Fair, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Catonsville at a later date.
