Patricia D. Apanius

HUDSON - Patricia D. Apanius, age 79, passed away on September 10, 2024.

She is survived by her husband, Alexander A.; children, Alexander (Natalie), Christopher (Charlene), Matthew, Corina Mazak (nee Apanius), Nicholas (Danielle), and Michael (Meredith), twelve grandchildren, and her sister, Anna Phillips (nee Rahn).

She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Margaret (nee Bank) Rahn, and brothers, William and Walter Rahn.

Pat was born in Aurora, Illinois. She studied at the University of Dayton where she met her loving husband, Alex. After the couple spent time in Florida and the western Pacific during Alex’s military service, they settled in Hudson, Ohio, where they were married for 57 years and raised a big family. Pat greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Pat was a lifelong learner and educator. She enjoyed teaching children of all ages throughout her lifetime. She founded the orchestra program in the Hudson City School District which she directed for many years. In addition, she organized and led the Hudson Schools’ chess team. She was always active in helping and supporting those around her.

Pat was passionate about her hobbies including basketball, reading, and knitting among many other crafts. Always trying to perfect her life’s pursuits and do what was right, Pat never did anything halfway.

Pat was the best sister, wife, mom, gramma, and friend.

A family gathering will be held following a private burial at Markillie Cemetery to celebrate her life and lasting impact on so many people.
