Patrick J. Mattingly

SILVER LAKE - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick J. Mattingly, 59, on January 5, 2025.

He died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Pat lived his entire best life in the Akron area. He “worked” most of his adult life at Community Connections, where he made many friends and enjoyed his social life. Pat was an avid music fan, and attended more concerts than anyone can remember, maybe 50, (but who’s counting?), and he collected T-shirts from each of those concerts. He was also a dedicated Browns fan, as well as other Cleveland area sports teams. He took great pleasure in celebrating holidays, especially Halloween, when he chose, and dressed up as the greatest characters.

He enjoyed a full life with his Ardmore housemates - camping, hiking, bowling, attending movies, going to dances and other social events, and eating at fine dining restaurants.

Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Mattingly, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Anna G. (Barrett) Mattingly; six siblings, John (Sue), Joseph (Susan), Michael (Jill), Karen (Steve) Joliet, Kathleen (Greg) Bresson and Linda (Rodney) Meade, as well as aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to all of Pat’s devoted and dedicated caregivers from the Ardmore service-provider family: Deena, Thomas, Kim, Angie, Steven and Al, and many years of continued support from Summit County Board of DD.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224.

A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Fr. Michael Williamson, will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ellet, 2580 Berne Street, Akron 44312.

Interment immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
