STOW - Paul W. Halnon, 89, died July 26, 2022. Born in Colchester, VT, he was a resident of Stow since 2014, and a U.S. Army veteran. Paul and his wife, Phyllis, moved here from Valdosta, Georgia to be closer to family. Paul is a native of Vermont and a 1956 graduate of the University of Vermont with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. He began his career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1956 in the Boston Milk Market Administrator’s office. In 1964, he received a National Institute of Public Affairs and did a year of graduate study at Stanford University in California. He was appointed Deputy Director of the USDA Dairy Division in 1969 and remained in that position until he was named Market Administrator in Florida, later to take responsibility over the entire southeast U.S. dairy market. He retired in 1994 and stayed in the southeast until moving to the Stow. He was a member of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church. Paul was a proud blood donor of over 15 gallons and enjoyed golfing, water sports, and spending time with his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and “little” grandpa. Preceded in death by parents Francis and Ruth, brothers, Robert, Raymond, George, Howard Halnon; sister, Anne Thibodeau, he is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Thomas (Karen), Timothy (Andra), Greg (Donna), Daniel Halnon; grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, David, Kevin, Michael Halnon, Lisa (John) Judkins; great-grandchildren, James, and Noah Judkins. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
