Peter K. Reid

STOW - Peter K. Reid went home to rest in the arms of Jesus on May 14, 2022, due to complications of a brain hemorrhage.

Pete was born in 1955. He graduated from Hudson High School and received an Associate's degree in Sales and Marketing from the University of Akron. Pete was a natural salesperson and his favorite thing in life after a prime rib, baked potato, and lemon pie dinner was interacting with his many commercial light bulb customers. He found great purpose in his work and his clients were touched to see Pete and his volunteer drivers. His product was light bulbs, but his personality is what lit up people's lives.

A car accident in 1982 resulted in Pete being paralyzed from his chest down. His positive attitude was an inspiration to all who knew him. Pete simply adapted and adjusted his expectations, finding joy in life where he could, which he did on a consistent basis.

Pete found spiritual connection at Riverwood Chapel for 20 years, where many congregants became his volunteer drivers and friends. He liked watching baseball, playing bingo, and visiting with family. His close relationship with his parents is a testament to their mutual love.

Pete is survived by his father, Kirk; his brothers, Randy and Scott (Linda), and nephew, Clayton. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy.

Pete thrived because of his parent's advocacy and the excellent care he received at many medical facilities including the Briarwood. The family is especially appreciative of the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Akron City Hospital.

A service will be held at Riverwood Chapel, 1407 Fairchild Avenue, Kent 44240, on Tuesday, July 19, at 11:00 AM, with a reception following the service.
