STOW - Richard E. Spangler, 86, died December 5, 2023.
Born in Elmhurst, IL, he grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. Dick was a resident of Stow since 1978, a U.S. Army veteran, and had been employed with Sears for 35 years, living in many different states. He retired from Sears at Chapel Hill, where he spent his last 15 years as store manager.
Dick enjoyed golfing at Silver Lake Country Club and Fox Den with his son-in-law, grandsons, and friends, and spending time with his family at Salt Fork State Park. Dick was an Eagle Scout, member of the Rotary Club of Stow-Munroe Falls, Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce, and the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District Board of Education. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” by his grandsons and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Faith Spangler, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jo Ann Spangler; daughter, Robin (Tom) Mullen; grandchildren, Scott (Aimee), Matt (Corey), and Brett Mullen; great-grandchildren, Lola, Olivia, and Maverick Mullen, as well as his brother, Perry Spangler.
Friends may call Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, where Pastor Dan Page will conduct service Friday, December 15, 2023, at 11 AM.
