Rev. Richard "Dick" N. Krcal, Sr.

AKRON - Rev. Richard “Dick” N. Krcal, Sr., 89, entered eternal rest on January 13, 2023. He was born in Cleveland, OH, on October 15, 1933.

He was a machinist at National Acme in Cleveland for 25 years before going into full-time ministry with the Evangelical Congregational Church, serving churches in Akron, OH, Johnstown, PA, Mansfield, OH, and Findlay, OH, prior to retiring in 2002. During those years of ministry, he served as Dean at Camp ECCO for the middle school-aged kids, as well as serving on the Camp ECCO board. He mentored many kids at camp in their relationship with the Lord. Dick’s passion was to share the gospel and love of Jesus with people. He was an amazing listener; sharing his wisdom and experiences to help others with decisions or struggles. Dick was always encouraging family and friends in their faith, ministry, and raising their families. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and adored grandfather. Dick also loved to have fun and his “ornery “side will be remembered with deep affection, as he loved to spread joy and laughter. He was always willing to lend a hand and was a friend to many. In addition, he enjoyed tinkering in his shop, carpentry, and working around the yard.

He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Alice; daughters, Karen (Don) Howell and Laura (Frank) Gibson; son, Paul (Janet) Leindecker; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard N. Krcal, Jr.; sister, Gladys Holmberg; brothers, Jeff, Clayton, and Robert Krcal.

Viewing will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with service immediately following at Victory Life Church, 3833 Hudson Drive, Stow, Ohio. Pastor Don Howell and Pastor Matt Skifstad will be officiating.
