Rita E. Reider

STOW - Rita E. Reider, 98, died September 24, 2022.

Born May 16, 1924, in Akron, Rita was the daughter of Wesley and Elsie (Smith) Schultz. She grew up on Coburn Street and graduated a year early from South High School.

Rita completed the Business and Secretarial Studies program at Hammel Actual Business College and started work in the executive offices of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company at the age of 17. She greatly enjoyed working at Firestone from 1941 until the mid-1950s. Rita later worked at Reider Mfg. in Cuyahoga Falls and Matco Tools Corporation in Stow.

Rita was smart, funny, creative, loved crafting of all sorts, and was particularly adept at flower arranging. She was a founding member of the Stow Silvercrest Garden Club and active in the PTA and numerous community events.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bob Reider, Sr., and her much loved grandson, Nicholas Jordan. Rita leaves her daughter, Susan (Mike) Rudolph of Wadsworth; son, Bob (Barbara) Reider, Jr., of Missoula, Montana; and granddaughter, Elisabeth Jordan of Medina.

Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville at a later date.
