STOW - Robert Lewis French, 87, died July 15, 2022.

Born in Akron at City Hospital, Bob moved to Zanesville, then to Australia, where his father worked for Goodyear. Upon returning home, he graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and married Nancy Schmid in 1956. They were together for 65 years.

Bob worked for Goodyear in tire engineering, including trips to his beloved Luxembourg, for more than 40 years, retiring in 1996. He was quite the handyman, including building his father’s house in Silver Lake.

Bob was involved in his church as secretary, then treasurer, of Trinity in the Community (T’nC) at Trinity United Church of Christ in Akron. He enjoyed reading, computers and technology, and spending time with family, especially beach vacations with the Bowmans, (his sister-in-law’s family).

Preceded in death by parents, Donald and Blanche French, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy French; son, Steve (Marcha) French; granddaughters, Lindsay Durham and Emily French; great-grandchildren, Everette and Juliet, and brother, James (Roberta) French.

Pastor David Brown will conduct service 11 AM Thursday, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224. Friends may call 4 PM to 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
