July 13, 1931 ~ May 14, 2024

STOW - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert Edward Mosteller, on May 14, 2024, after a short illness.

If one measure of a well-lived life is the imprint left on the ones you’ve loved, then Bob was a giant among men. He cared for his wife, Janis, until her death in January of this year and we rejoice that he is reunited with her in Glory.

Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Janis Ryan Mosteller; his grandson, Elliot Hynd, and his sister, Donna Sims, Bob leaves behind his two brothers, Richard (Shirley) Mosteller and John (Sharon) Mosteller, as well as his five precious children; Robert (Brenda) Mosteller, Gary (Sheila) Mosteller, Jean (Bill) Hynd, Ann Starkey, and Kathleen (Matt) Nussbaum; thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Bob practiced medicine for over 40 years as both a family practice physician and a psychiatrist. He was chief of psychiatry at Akron City Hospital and continued to mentor young doctors at NEOUCOM after retirement.

Bob loved the outdoors and was an avid cyclist, runner, hiker, and swimmer, and even at 92, was out walking or hiking every day. A lifelong learner and voracious reader, he studied a variety of genres, and many enjoyed his “reading list highlights” sent out each year with his Christmas letter. His love of learning kept his mind sharp and his sense of humor intact. His most beloved book, though, was the Bible and he read it from cover to cover each year. He studied, memorized, taught, and lived out its lessons with gentleness and humility and has left us with a spiritual legacy of what it means to love and follow Jesus. We will all miss him dearly, but we grieve with hope knowing we will see him again.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 3 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, where the family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time.
