HUDSON - Roland Eugene Coffey was born April 19, 1933, in Mount Sterling, Illinois to Sterling Dwight and Mildred (Gaut) Coffey and entered the presence of Christ on June 12, 2022, in Hudson, Ohio.
He was married to Joan Sloane on August 20, 1955, while they were both students at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. They were married for 65 years and had three sons, Brian, Joe, and the late John Coffey. They had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (and still counting).
Roland pastored in 13 congregations over 65 years. He loved Jesus, he loved his family, and he loved people. He enjoyed golf, ping-pong, and tennis, (especially winning at golf, ping-pong, or tennis), reading historical biographies, memorizing scripture, and watching his boys and later his grandchildren do almost anything.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; by his siblings, Emogene, Arabelle, William, Charles, and Carmen; by his youngest son, John, and by his wife, Joan.
He is survived by his sons, Brian (Lorene) and Joe (Karen); by his grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Coffey, Rachel (Will) McGinley, Rebecca (Sean) Alvarez, Jordan (Hanneke) Coffey, Jesse Coffey, Micah (Gianna) Coffey, Canaan Coffey, and six great-grandchildren; Liam, Connor, John Peter, Chloe, Ezekiel, and Emery, (and two more currently on the way).
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, 10 AM, at Christ Community Chapel, 750 W. Streetsboro Street, Hudson, Ohio 44236.
