Susan K. Bebout (Nee Plum)

STOW - Susan K. Bebout, (nee Plum), died peacefully on September 21st, 2022, at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones.

Susan was born in Akron and was a resident of Stow since 1969. Susan retired from Summit County where she worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the Office of the Summit County Engineer. After her retirement, Susan provided aid and companionship to other elderly individuals in the area well into her mid-80s.

For sixty years, Susan was an active member of Bethany United Church of Christ where she served in various roles including secretary of the consistory. She loved to garden and arrange flowers, and her home was often graced by the smell of one of her prizeworthy blueberry or cherry pies cooling in the window box. Susan, like her own mother, was also an avid baseball fan and followed the Cleveland Indians, (now Guardians), closely. Her family and friends are profoundly grateful for the brave fight she waged twice to overcome breast cancer and for the additional years her friends and family were able to enjoy with her.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Anson and Katharine Plum; brothers, John and David (Bud) Plum; sister, Callie Bridgman, and Robert (Bob) Bebout, her husband of nearly 49 years at the time of his death in 2005. She is survived by her sons, Brad Bebout, Richard Bebout (Jerri Anglin), and Tom Bebout (Laura Bertrand), and daughter, Katharine Fertig (Glenn), along with 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, (soon to be 13). Perhaps the greatest testament to her gentle and caring nature was the frequent visits and long conversations she enjoyed with her many grandchildren from all across the country. Her loss will be felt deeply by family and friends for many years to come.

Pastor Kim Mislin Cran will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Bethany UCC, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, 44223, at 10 AM. All are welcome. Friends and family may also call Friday, October 7, 2022, from 4 - 7 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road in Stow.
