STOW - Thomas C. Freborg, 81, passed away July 20, 2024.
Born in Oak Park, IL, he was a resident of Stow since 2007, and retired from Rotek in Aurora, Ohio, where he worked for 22 years in operations management and bearings sales. He was passionately interested in U.S. heavy industry, having also managed heavy forging operations at Kropp Forge in Chicago, IL, for 25 years before relocating to Ohio.
He was a founding and active member of Rejoice Lutheran Church in Hudson, Ohio. Mr. Freborg enjoyed woodworking, music, boats, fishing, and playing the banjo. Tom was well known for his outgoing sense of humor. A native of Chicago, he cherished annual childhood fishing trips to northern Minnesota with his dad, “Tully.” He continued these trips with his children and grandchildren. Tom made real friends with everyone he met.
Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Linda Marie (Stoermer) Freborg, in January of 2024; parents, Carl “Tully” and Marie (Kehoe) Freborg, and his sister, Patricia Freborg. He is survived by his sister, Ann (Rubino); sons, Andrew (Kimberly), Mike, and Tom Freborg; daughter, Sue Bassam; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Vicar Brian S. Suntken will conduct service, Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10 AM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 5 to 7 PM. Interment Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls.
