Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Thomas J. Mayer

STOW - With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Thomas J. Mayer, on August 27, 2024.

Tom was born on August 27, 1958, in Lakewood, Ohio. He was the son of Charles and Gladys Mayer and grew up in Cleveland. He attended Our Lady of Angels School, St. Edward High School, and Cleveland State University. He went on to build a career as a sales manager in the electrical industry, where he was known for his exceptional leadership and dedication.

Tom had a lifelong passion for sports, with hockey and golf holding special places in his heart. He not only honed his game, but also forged lasting friendships among his teammates. Whether it was the thrill of a perfect shot or the joy of spending time with his friends on the golf course, Tom’s love for sports was a defining part of his life.

Tom’s greatest joy in life came from the family he and his beloved wife, Judy, created, especially in his role as a father and grandfather. He found endless happiness in the simple moments, like playing catch in the backyard with his grandkids and attending their games.  Tom's unwavering support for his daughters was a constant throughout their lives, from guiding them through childhood to cheering them on in every new chapter. His love and dedication as a parent and grandparent were the heart of who he was, leaving a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Mayer, and son, Bradley Thomas Mayer. He is survived by his wife, Judith Mayer; daughters, Ashley Stitzel (Daniel) and Kelsey Mayer Zagar (Caleb); grandchildren, Charles Stitzel, Nicholas Stitzel, and Maxwell Zagar; brothers, Michael Mayer (Maureen), James Mayer (Janice), and David Mayer (Lisa); cousins; nieces; nephews, as well as many dear friends.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow, Road, Stow, 44224, for visitation on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 2 - 5 PM.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow 44224.
