STOW - Wanita M. Brown, 95, died March 27, 2023.
Born in Indiana, PA, she had been a resident of Stow for over 55 years, where she loved her home. To her, it was a castle, as modest as it was, and she truly enjoyed just being at home.
As a child with ten siblings, her sisters were her friends. At an early age, she had been employed with Bell Telephone and, following the death of her husband, Robert, in 1976, began work at Falls Orthopedic Surgeons.
She was a wonderful cook, especially her pies that were all scratch made. Her love of home and cooking led to her hosting all holiday meals and gatherings up until the time of her husband’s death.
Wanita was a member of, and longtime faithful giver to Stow Presbyterian Church. She loved to crochet and was an avid reader, especially of romance novels, and was a true movie buff.
She led a humble life, committed to her daughters.
Wanita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C.; parents, Ogal Blair Henry and Mary Mildred Learn, and siblings, Etta Jane Hull, Betty Hanna, Rosaline Ensminger, Kathleen Ferrier, Blair Henry, Howard Henry, Ethel Henry, and Ronald Henry.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam (Ed) Matheny-Dietrich, Susan Bucy (Dan), and Robin Brown; grandchildren, Dennis (Michelle) Matheny, Tracy Ryan (Mike), Sandy (Dave) Sampson, and Bob (Erin) Bucy; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren, and sisters, Athelda Ickes and Audrey Lezanic.
Pastor Vince Latz will conduct service Friday, 10:30 AM, at Stow Presbyterian Church, 4150 Fishcreek Road, Stow 44224, where friends may call from 9:30 AM until service time. Burial Stow Cemetery.
