STOW - William “Bill” Frederick Heim, 95, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 27, 2023.
Born June 13, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA, Bill was a long-time resident of Stow and a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII.
Bill spent over 42 years dedicated to the Davey Tree Expert Company. He began his career as a groundsman on the Duquesne Light Operation in Pittsburgh and retired in 1989 as Vice President and General Manager of Kent Utility Services. Post-retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling, working in his yard, and spending time with friends and family. Some of Bill’s favorite times were spent with his family at their Canadohta Lake cottage in Pennsylvania. Bill was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls.
Affectionately called “Pap,” Bill’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He hardly missed a hockey or lacrosse game, and was always up for a breakfast date with his grandkids. If he wasn’t sharing life advice, he was telling them jokes about “sitting on his wrinkles.” Pap had a special energy and spunk to him, and truly was young at heart because he loved spending time with his grandkids and their friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Marion Heim, and sisters, Dorothy Malhalcin and Sarah Heim. Bill is survived by his sons, Scott (Sandy Knotek) Heim and Todd (Loralie) Heim; daughter, Kimberly Heim; grandchildren, Chelsea (Brian) Keener, Christopher, Cole, and Zoe Heim, Noah Stuczynski, and Andrew (Marissa) Jones; great-grandchildren, Luca, Carsyn, and Thea Jones, and sister, Bea Keyser.
