KENT - William (Bill) Glenn Scheufler, 75, affectionately known as "GUB" (Great Uncle Bill), passed away on February 15, 2025.
Bill is survived by his only living immediate family member, his sister, Donna Marie (Al) Hamilton. Donna is crushed at the loss of her only brother, as they were not only brother and sister, but best friends! Bill also became best friends with Donna's husband, Al. Al helped William all the time, and the two of them hung together like real brothers. In addition to his sister, Bill is survived by his niece, Dawn (Chris) Zwetzig; nephew, Jason (Tracy) Hamilton, and great-nephews, Alexander Zwetzig, Henry Zwetzig and Jacob Hamilton.
GUB was the family cheerleader whose positive, giving, cheerful demeanor will continue to influence the family he loved. When Bill's nephew, Chris, was deployed in the military, GUB stepped in to help his family by taking his grandnephew to a Cub Scout Winter Campout, numerous band shows, as well as attending their preschool for Grandparents’ Day.
As time went on and William was growing up, he suffered the death of his father, Robert Eugene Scheufler, his mother, Jackie (aka Estella Sophia) Scheufler, then followed by both his Grandma Miel and Grandpa Henry, who lived in Sandusky. Following those losses, William's older brother, Bob, passed away in 2012. There was only a two-year gap between William and Bob, and they sure loved each other.
Being a confirmed bachelor with an adventurous soul, Bill seemed to have millions of interesting passions including drumming, riding motorcycles, hiking, sailing, astronomy, working on cars and dabbling in photography.
After serving in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy, Bill began a successful career that ranged from managing a K-Mart, working for Goodwill, teaching Marketing at the University of Akron, and collecting money for the IRS. In between his jobs, he earned an MBA in Marketing from Kent State University.
He was always quick with compliments and always made an effort to tell you how much you meant to him.
