William L. (Bill) Thompson, Jr.

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Pastor William L. (Bill) Thompson, Jr., 78, went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2024.

Born in Akron, Bill was a lifetime area resident and employed with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for over 25 years. After leaving Goodyear, Bill was employed with Akron Pregnancy Services for over 14 years. Bill was a man of God and founder/president of Toolbox Ministries (Akron), an organization helping pastors equip their men to be spiritual leaders. Bill was also a member of Riverwood Chapel.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Pat Young; second wife, Mary Thompson; son, Todd Thompson; grandson, Bradley Thomas; parents, William, Sr. and Emma Thompson; brother, Gary Thompson; sister-in-law, Davidia Thompson, and son-in-law, Philip Chrobak.

He is survived by his wife, Gaila; daughters, Tammy (Mark) Stewart, Tricia (Tim) Jones, and Tara Thomas (fiancé Daryl Cormany); siblings, Diane (Don) Zinn and Randy (Debi) Thompson; sister-in-law, Diane Thompson; step-children, Kevin (Gloria) Ivey, Melissa (Rob) Franta, Richard (Diane) Kurlich, Mike (Jackie) Kurlich, Jeffrey (Beth) Kurlich, Patricia (Dennis) Small, and Teresa Powell; 21 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pastors David Haydu and Antonio Jackson will conduct funeral services on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 12 noon, at Park United Methodist Church, 2308 24th Street, Southwest, Akron, OH 44314. Friends are invited to the church for visitation from 10 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
