James (Jim) H. Welch

STOW - James H. Welch, (Jim or Jimmy), left us on November 30, 2023, at Hickory Ridge Nursing Home.

Jim was born December 22, 1963, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Harold Welch and Alice Welch. Jim graduated from Stow High School in 1982. He started working at Akron Foundry in 1993 and retired after 26 years.

Jim loved rock ‘n roll, (especially Lynyrd Skynyrd), and had many memories of going to 80s concerts. He had a green thumb since childhood and loved to landscape. Jim also was a huge NASCAR fan and had his own museum in his man cave. He enjoyed going to many races with his friends and cheering on Dale Ernhardt, Sr. and Dale Ernhardt, Jr. He loved to fish and be with nature.

Florida was his favorite place and he spent many of his vacations there with friends and family. He also loved cooking and grilling. Jim was a hardworking man and a great father. He would do anything for the ones he loved.

Jim was the youngest of his siblings, Lori Aloisi, Gretchen Drago, Heidi Delapa (deceased), and Martin Leopold. He leaves behind his two daughters and only grandson, Kara Welch, Kailyn Ferrari (Welch), and Declan Ferrari.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 6 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224.
