TALLMADGE - Kathleen Joy Myers (Gindlesberger), 65, died peacefully on December 26, 2024.
Born in Exeter, NH, Kathy grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with an associate’s degree that allowed her to pursue her passion for art and creativity. One of the most artistic people in her field, she held several creative roles with well-known companies before retiring from JoAnn Fabrics as a digital creator in January of 2024. She was a well-known resident of Tallmadge, OH for nearly 40 years and was married to her husband, John, for over 44 years.
Kathy lived for her family and was extremely proud of who her children grew up to be. She was fiercely loyal and expressed her love for her kids and grandkids in everything she did. Forever bringing a smile to our faces, she had a habit of being witty and laughing at her own jokes, giving thoughtful advice, calling just to check in, and showering her family with love and affection.
Her favorite memories and pastimes include countless summer trips to Hilton Head Island, SC, visiting her grandchildren, exploring new restaurants, crafting, playing the slot machines at the local casinos (and winning), seeking out dessert, watching football, but especially the Steelers, and taking annual trips to Tampa, FL, to visit her oldest daughter and beloved son-in-law, where she could be found falling asleep in the hot tub or floating around the pool. She also enjoyed numerous “boat days” with her sister and brother-in-law on Lake Mohawk, where she was proud to have eventually been allowed to drive the boat. Always the social butterfly, she had countless friends whom she loved like family, ranging from childhood to her coworkers at JoAnn’s. She was a true light in our lives and her presence will forever be missed.
Preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Margaret Gindlesberger, she is survived by her husband, John Myers; sister, Gay Welker (Tim); brother, Scott Gindlesberger (Susie); daughter, Erin (Patrick) Kendrick, son, Brett (Danyelle) Myers, and daughter Kelly (Jon) Spring; grandchildren, Kennedy, Blakely, and Jamie Spring, and CJ Myers, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony for family only will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, with a celebration of life to follow for all who loved her on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 12 - 4 PM, at Danny Boys, located at 10 Tallmadge Circle, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating art supplies to your local school system.
