Dear Mrs. Long and family,
My thoughts and prayers have been with you since my brother John told me that Mr. Long passed away. I am sad for all of you, especially you, Mrs. Long. Mr. Long was “such a presence,” a real character, and I say that with a smile on my face and fondness in my heart. May it bring you peace to know that he is in heaven having a few with my dad and chatting with many Holy Family friends including my mom.
Sending a hug and prayers from Virginia.
Sincerely, Marianne Halpin Stana
Our children , who are now in their 50's, grew up on Long's shoes. It was evident that Mr. Long loved his work. We knew that he would never steer us wrong ,and over the years we felt he was a friend and later his son John too. The best way to describe him is : an all around nice guy who enjoyed his work and cared about his customers. Long's shoes has always been more than a store. It has been a place like "Cheers" where everybody knew our name. We still feel welcome at Long's shoes - what a grand legacy for Mr. Long.
