Obituary of James Scafidi

Jim Scafidi, 64, went home to his eternal home with the Lord on June 30, 2018.

Jim was born in Akron and lived most of his life in Cuyahoga Falls.  He was a 1973 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and a member of United Food & Commercial Workers Union.  Jim began his career at age 13 working in the family business, Tony's Star Market in Cuyahoga Falls.  Jim continued his trade as a meat cutter with Fisher Foods, Kroger, Acme, and finally at Giant Eagle, where he retired three years ago after suffering from a stroke.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church while growing up with the family, and later joined St. Bernard Catholic Church in Akron and lived his faith through his kindness and love to others.  Jim's hobbies included his many years in the Chinese Martial Arts, achieving a brown belt, and fishing.

Preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Mary (Fisher) Scafidi, brother William “Bill”, and niece Nichole Hardman, he is survived by his siblings Patricia (Charles) Perrin, Tony (Sue) Scafidi, Mary Ann Haag, Barbara Malita and Cheri Colianni; 20 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews, and childhood friend Jack Kaiser.  Jim will be greatly missed by many and never forgotten.
