Gary H. Richey, age 65, passed away September 4, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.
Gary was born November 19, 1952 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to parents Bob and Joyce (Sorenson) Richey. After graduating Jackson High School and attending John Wesley College, Gary came to Ohio to pursue his tennis pro career in 1978. Gary owned and operated Union Sport, a tennis court construction company, for the past 25 years. He was also the owner of Old 97 Cafe in Kenmore.
Gary enjoyed spending time in Florida with family and friends, playing tennis, reading many books, listening to music and playing his ukulele. He also enjoyed traveling around the world and lived in Japan and the Netherlands with his wife, where they made many new friends. Most importantly, Gary lived life on his own terms.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tracy, his mother Joyce, brothers Randy (Dawn) and Scott (Patty) and sister Heather, along with eighteen nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Robert.
Visitation will be held 5-8:00 PM on Monday, September 10 at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio 44224. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
